"Builders & Foundations"

“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them,

I will show you whom he is like:

He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock;

and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house

and could not shake it, because it had been well built.

But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly,

is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation;

And the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed,

And the ruin of that house was great.”

-Jesus Christ

Luke 6:46-49

“Personal Reflection”

This is one of the most well-known parables from Jesus. Most have heard of it. In my reflection on it, when I hear this parable, it is not only a house I think of. Yes, it is true, in a real sense, that a house built on a “deep rock” has a strong foundation. Of course, this is more than just about building a house with a strong foundation. The house with a strong foundation is an analogy that is true in the most real sense you can think of when you think of it psychologically, as this has very little to no difference than thinking of it in a spiritual sense.

First lets understand by the words of Paul the Apostle, that it is by the spirit of your mind. The mind, where your state of being dwells, the spirit, is the house, and this is what must be renewed, or born again, and by this knowledge, it is where you put on the likeness of God, that is spirit. The house is the likeness of the house of God, that is the spirit. The spirit is of the mind and where your mind is, is where your house is. This is your dwelling place and in this world of life and death, spirit is the strength to stand up against the fears of death and rise above the knowledge of death. The house on a strong foundation is a spirit that dwells in the light of God, that is the Word of God. This house is laid on an everlasting foundation and it is a place being prepared by Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit, that is the Mind of Christ, the Spirit of God in the flesh. This same Spirit was given to the chosen rock of the church of Christ, Peter. Therefore the tribulations of time, will not break this house down to the ground, but it will stand firm. This means that the state of your well-being, that is your soul, will not crumble as it is built on what is of God, spirit.

The house is you. The foundation is your faith. And like a house with a strong foundation, an individual, a family, a country, a planet, can withstand struggles from the nature of short time, that is tribulations. With unwavering faith in the Spirit of Life as your rock, your foundation will withstand a storm. Does this mean any faith is a good foundation? No, for even rocks crack and crumble. The things of earth do not last forever, but that which is of the Spirit, God, is life everlasting

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” -Jesus Christ

John 3:6

In time, a foundation cracks. In time, a house falls. In time, the things of earth fade away. Like memories forgotten. The years testify. History repeats. If we rely only on our own foundation, good or bad, in life it will fade, in time, forgotten. A life fading in memories and time, is not what God wants for us. We dishonor each other, those before us, present, and after in spirit thinking or saying otherwise.

“Honor your father and your mother, that you may have a long life in the land which the Lord, your God, is giving you.” Exodus 20:12 (5th commandment given to Moses from God)

For God is Spirit, and we must be born of the Spirit, to enter the kingdom of God. The promised land. He sent His Son and glorified Him, to show us the path to life in Him. This life is light of humanity and it shines in the darkness and the darkness will not overcome it. This is the house, built on a strong foundation.

The House of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God, the light, and the Spirit of God.
